ThriveRecovery

You already know
why you want to stop.

Thrive doesn't argue with you about it. It asks what you're changing and why, then gives you one thing to do today — and help is one tap from every screen. For porn, alcohol, cannabis, vaping, gambling or caffeine.

Neural Pathways Shifting

At 30 days porn-free, significant neural pathway changes are occurring. Your brain is forming new reward circuits. Confidence and self-esteem are rebuilding. Motivation for real-life goals is increasing.

In the app, nine milestones carry a story — days 1, 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, 90, 180 and 365. None of it is a timeline you have to match.

Support for the hardest moments

Cravings do not wait for your next appointment. Thrive is built for the moment itself — a check-in you can do in thirty seconds, an I need help button on every screen, and a coach at 2am.

How Thrive Helps You Recover

01

Walk through five short steps

Not a quiz about your habits. What you're changing, what recovery means to you right now, and what is different in ninety days.

02

Hear your own reasons back

Thrive shows you what you said, in your words. Nothing is pitched at you — the case for changing is one you already made.

03

Start with one small step

Your first check-in happens during setup, so day one begins with something already done. Then daily check-ins, lessons and journaling from there.

What you actually see

Six screens, nothing staged.

These are the six screenshots from the App Store listing, unchanged. The name and the numbers belong to a test phone, not to you. What they show is the shape of it: a short path for today, help one tap away, and a line that a hard day marks instead of erasing.

The Today screen. Under the greeting Good morning, Anthony sits the line You said being present for my kids matters most, then a path of four items: check in, thirty seconds; a gratitude and perspective lesson, eight minutes; slow breathing, two minutes; a reflection, sixty seconds. Below them a recovery card reads 41 of 41 days aligned, and a red I need help button sits above the Today, Journey, Coach and Connect tabs.

Four things, ten minutes

A check-in, a lesson, a practice and a reflection, each one telling you what it costs before you start: thirty seconds, eight minutes, two minutes, sixty seconds. This phone is set to ten minutes a day. Set it to two and the path gets shorter, not guiltier. The line under the greeting is the reason you picked at setup.

The first check-in card, headed How are you arriving?, showing a square pad labelled light to heavy down one side and low to high energy along the bottom, with a single dot placed in the centre, a Use sliders instead toggle beneath it, and the reading Steady Energy, somewhere in between.

Card one of five

You put one dot somewhere between light and heavy, low energy and high. There are no words to choose from, which matters on a bad day, and one toggle turns the pad into sliders if you would rather. Four cards follow. The last two are optional, and the app says so on the screen.

The help sheet on a dark background, headed I'm here, with the line We don't have to solve tomorrow. Let's get through the next ten minutes. Under the label What's happening? are seven buttons: I'm craving, I'm overwhelmed, I'm alone, I'm angry, I might use, I already used, and, in a different colour, I don't feel safe.

Seven ways to say what is happening

I'm craving. I'm overwhelmed. I'm alone. I'm angry. I might use. I already used. I don't feel safe. This opens from the red button that sits above the tab bar on Today, Journey, Coach and Connect. The last two are scripted rather than coached: one checks your physical safety first, the other goes straight to 988, the Crisis Text Line and 911, and says plainly that Thrive is not monitoring you and cannot call anyone for you. None of it sits behind a payment.

The Journey screen, headed Where you are, with the line Every day on this line is one you chose. A Recovery Path card reads 41 recovery days, 0 difficult, 100 percent aligned over the last 41 days. Three tiles below it read 12 practice, 4 urges navigated and 0 times you reached out, and a milestones row shows circles for days 1, 3, 7 and 14.

A line, not a streak

Recovery days counted across a rolling window of up to ninety, with difficult days sitting beside them instead of wiping the line. Milestones at one, three, seven and fourteen days, each one opening its own story. One tile counts the times you reached out, which on this phone is still zero.

The Coach screen. It opens with the question Anthony, you've checked in as lonely 3 evenings this week. What's been going on around 9 PM?, then a panel headed What Thrive is noticing that reads 6 of 6 strong urges were after 8 PM and Lonely appeared in 4 of 6 strong urges, sourced from 12 check-ins on this phone, last 30 days, with Why am I seeing this and Not helpful beneath it.

It opens with your own data

The first line is an observation drawn from your check-ins, with the sample size printed underneath: twelve check-ins on this phone, last thirty days. Why am I seeing this and Not helpful sit right next to it. The screen says out loud that this is not a therapist and not watching over you, and points you to I need help for the hard moments.

The Steps screen for an alcohol recovery plan, reading 0 of 12 steps and Work it in any order you're ready for. Answers stay on this phone. Under the heading Awareness and Acceptance the first three steps are open, and under Self-Discovery the next two show padlocks and Premium badges.

Twelve steps, in any order

Five phases, starting with awareness and acceptance. The first three steps are open on every plan and the rest are marked Premium in plain sight, locks showing. Nothing is sequenced for you: work it in any order you're ready for, and your answers stay on the phone.

Before you download

Thrive isn't for everyone.

It's a good fit if

  • You want to understand your triggers, not just count days
  • You'd rather do this privately than in a group
  • You've tried quitting on willpower and it didn't hold
  • You want something in your pocket at 2am

Look elsewhere if

  • You're in medical withdrawal — that needs a doctor, not an app
  • You want a website blocker and nothing else
  • You're looking for live human therapy sessions

Thrive is a self-help tool, not a treatment for substance use disorder. If you're in crisis, contact 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or SAMHSA's treatment locator.
